El Cajon CDC Makes a Positive Economic Impact on Downtown El Cajon
- Property Values have increased by 181% since 1996 vs. 75% in the City at large
- Taxable Sales in the Management District have increased by 66% since 1996 versus 45% in the City at large
- Transient Occupancy Tax has increased by 36%
- Lease rates have increased by 56%
- Crime in the Management District has decreased by 16% since 1996
- 91% more customers shop and dine in Downtown El Cajon than they did 5 years ago (according to El Cajon CDC's 2005 Housing Survey)
- 200,000 visitors come to Downtown El Cajon annually as a result of El Cajon CDC events
- $3,150,000 in Public funds has been invested in Capital Improvement Projects since 1996
- $43,000,000 in Private funds has been invested since 1998
- Since becoming a designated Main Street Community in 2001, there have been
- 145 New Businesses started in Downtown El Cajon
- 591 new jobs created in Downtown El Cajon

How does El Cajon CDC acquire funding?
El Cajon CDC receives project specific funding from City of El Cajon Redevelopment Agency. El Cajon CDC also receives assessment funding based on parcel size and location from Property Based Improvement District (PBID) property owners including the City of El Cajon and County of San Diego. El Cajon CDC leverages this funding through grant income, donations and event sponsorships. El Cajon CDC has an annual operational budget in excess of $2 million dollars.
