Directions to Downtown El Cajon (PDF)
Downtown El Cajon’s very own concert series, Concerts on the Green, is back in 2009. You’re going to feel the heat this summer when you can’t help but get up and dance to your favorite music played by the best musicians San Diego has to offer. This year we’re bringing all your favorites and then some. Come see favorite performers such as Theo & the Zydeco Patrol, Sue Palmer, and The Corvettes, as well as newcomers The Heroes and Scott Martin Latin Soul Band. With Concerts on the Green you get an entire show, including an M.C., intermission, opportunity drawings, and more! All in a two hour block you won’t forget. Don’t miss a single night!
Concerts on the Green take place at the Prescott Promenade in Downtown El Cajon on Main Street between Magnolia Avenue and Claydelle Avenue. They are always free, but bench seating is limited, so we recommend you bring a chair or blanket. You are welcome to bring food to the concerts, but several restaurants surround the park with outdoor patio seating, so you can enjoy the concert and dinner at the same time. Some reminders to be aware of:
- No drinking of alcohol in the park.
- There is no smoking in the park; smoking is allowed across Main Street next to Downtown Café on Sulzfeld Way.
- Aside from assistant dogs, there are no dogs allowed in the park.
- Please be courteous to other attendees and try not to block their view of the stage.
For more information please contact Kathryn Courter, Promotion and Event Manager, at (619) 401-8858.

Meet the Official M.C. Ed Waymire!
Concerts on the Green wouldn’t be what they are without its very own M.C., Ed Waymire! Ed is the official M.C. and helps us welcome the bands every week as well as announcing the raffle winners. Not to mention interacting with the crowd with his friendly spirit and comedic flare. He is no stranger to Downtown El Cajon, as he is a past promotion committee chair, past board member, and past chairman of the board for the El Cajon CDC. He is also a member and past president of the El Cajon Valley Host Lions Club. His volunteer and charity work reflect the kind of person he is, and Concerts on the Green is lucky to have his support. Be sure to say hi to Ed this season and thank him for all his help.
Concerts on the Green remain popular as ever
We listened to you last year and brought all your favorite bands you wanted. As a result Concerts on the Green had a record season in 2008 as over 12,000 people packed the Prescott Promenade throughout the entire year. We brought you favorites such as The Cat- illacs, The Coolrays, and The Mar Dels, but we also introduced you to a few new bands including The Stilettos and The Hayriders. We hope you enjoyed last season as much as we did bringing it to you, and can’t wait for May 22, 2009. We can't thank you enough for your participation in the weekly raffles, which brought in over $4,000 to help support the continuation of Concerts on the Green. Always feel free to let us know what you think, the bands you liked, or the bands you'd like to see, so we can continue to improve the concerts year after year. Email your feedback by clicking here.
